We are the only English-based business independent university in the South of Tunisia, located in one of the fastest growing and developing districts in Sfax: Technopole of Sfax. MINISTRY OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

The International School of Business in Sfax, Tunisia is officially licensed by the ministry of higher education and scientific research (MESRS). This accreditation signifies that ISB’s programs meet rigorous criteria set by the ministry, ensuring quality in curriculum, faculty qualifications, and overall educational effectiveness. It also ensures that the degrees offered by ISB are respected and valued within the academic and professional communities.

The Business Administration Unit at the International School of Business has received specialized accreditation for its business program(s) through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) located at 11960 Quivira Road in Overland Park, Kansas, USA. National accounting examination

The International School of Business (ISB) offers the International Accounting Examination as a key component of its accounting programs. This examination aims to evaluate proficiency in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other global accounting practices. 67% of ISB students have successfully passed the examination in the academic year 2022-2023.

Both graduates and undergraduates are concerned with the policies and procedures mentioned below:

  • General policies

Confidentiality policy: The Confidentiality Policy at ISB is designed to protect sensitive and private information and ensure that it is handled responsibly and securely. This policy applies to all members of the university community, including students, faculty, staff, and administrative personnel. In our university, it is ensured that confidential information is accessed only by authorized individuals and is protected against unauthorized access or disclosure.

 

Technology use policy: ISB information technology resources include all computers, peripherals, software, voice and data communication systems, and any related tools, instruments, and facilities. This also includes the services that make use of any of these technology resources.

ISB encourages its members to use all those resources and services effectively, ethically, responsibly, securely, and in a manner that supports academic and administrative goals.

 

Personal use is permitted within reasonable limits but must not interfere with university operations. Users are also responsible for securing their accounts and protecting sensitive data.

 

Unauthorized access or sharing of data is prohibited. Activities such as illegal downloads, unauthorized software installations, and misuse of network resources are not allowed.

 

Student complaint system: This policy is designed to allow students express concerns related to their academic or campus experience and then ensure that these issues are addressed in a fair and timely manner. The student complaint system applies to all students who wish to file complaints about university services, academic programs, faculty, staff, or other aspects of university life.

 

The process starts by contacting the quality department, filing a complaint, and then submitting it. Then, the complaint will be reviewed to determine its validity and whether it falls within the policy’s scope. After that, A thorough investigation is conducted, which may involve gathering evidence, interviewing relevant parties, and reviewing documentation. Finally, a decision is made based on the investigation’s findings, and appropriate actions or remedies are determined.

 

Campus security and safety: This policy outlines the measures and procedures ISB has in place to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus. Here’s an overview of what such a policy typically includes:

 

  1. Campus Security Personnel: security officers patrol the campus, monitor activities, respond to incidents, and enforce university policies to ensure safety.
  1. Surveillance Cameras: cameras are installed in strategic locations across campus to monitor activity and deter crime. Footage can be reviewed if incidents occur.
  1. Access Control Systems: Buildings are secured with ID card readers, keycard systems to limit entry to authorized individuals.
  1. Emergency Call Stations: emergency call boxes or stations are located throughout the campus, allowing individuals to quickly contact campus security or quality department.
  1. Campus Lighting: well-lit pathways, parking areas, and public spaces enhance visibility and safety during evening classes.
  1. Alarm Systems: the building is equipped with alarm systems for fire, intrusion, and other emergencies, providing alerts and enabling quick responses.
  1. Safety Awareness Programs: regular workshops and informational campaigns educate and train the campus community about safety practices, crime prevention, and emergency procedures.

 

Dress code: This policy intends to provide guidelines for appropriate dress code to create a professional, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment. Faculty, administrative staff, and students are expected to dress appropriately while on campus. Inappropriate clothing is not acceptable and may lead to disciplinary measures.

 

Inappropriate attire is defined as, but not limited to:

  • Tight or revealing clothing;
  • Short shorts and micro-skirts;
  • Low-cut tops or dresses;
  • Sagging jeans or jeans with suggestive holes or markings;
  • T-shirts with inappropriate logos or language;
  • Midriff-baring, open-back or halter tops.

Drug-free environment: This policy aims at promoting health, safety, and academic success of students, faculty, and staff by preventing drug and alcohol abuse on campus. Any violation of this policy will lead to disciplinary measures up to and including dismissal in the case of students and termination in the case of employees, even for a first offense.

 

Smoking policy: The Smoking Policy is designed to promote a healthy, clean, and comfortable environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. By regulating smoking on campus, the university aims to reduce health risks, minimize exposure to second-hand smoke, and maintain a pleasant atmosphere.

 

Smoking is permitted only in outdoor areas and is strictly prohibited inside all university buildings, including classrooms, offices, dormitories, restrooms, and common areas. All members of the university community are expected to adhere to the smoking policy. Individuals are encouraged to inform others politely if they notice non-compliance.

 

  • Academic policies

Academic integrity: The Academic Integrity Policy at ISB is designed to uphold the principles of honesty, fairness, and ethical behavior in all academic activities. This policy ensures that students, faculty, and staff maintain high standards of integrity and avoid any forms of academic misconduct.

 

Types of Academic Misconduct

  • Plagiarism: Using someone else’s work or ideas without proper citation. This includes copying text, ideas, or data from sources without acknowledgment.
  • Cheating: Utilizing unauthorized resources or assistance during exams, assignments, or any academic tasks. This includes using notes in a closed-book exam or receiving unauthorized help.
  • Falsification: Falsifying data, research results, or any academic information. This includes inventing or altering data in academic projects.
  • Collusion: Collaborating with others on assignments or exams in ways that are not permitted. This includes working together on an assignment intended to be done individually.
  • Impersonation: Having someone else take an exam or complete assignments on one’s behalf.

ISB councils: This policy is designed to maintain high standards of education, ensure compliance with academic regulations, and address issues related to curriculum, faculty, and student academic life. It ensures that ISB academic programs are aligned with the institution’s mission and strategic goals.

 

Academic year: This policy ensures consistency and clarity for students, faculty, and staff regarding the academic calendar. The academic year consists of two main semesters (Fall and Spring), each lasting approximately 15 weeks. For more details click here.

 

Student attendance: The Student Attendance Policy at the International School of Business (ISB) outlines the expectations and requirements regarding student attendance in order to maintain academic integrity and ensure the effectiveness of the learning experience.

 

Students are typically required to attend a specified percentage of classes to remain in good standing. This percentage may vary by course but often ranges from 70% of scheduled classes. Faculty members are responsible for taking and recording attendance for each class session. This may be done through roll call, sign-in sheets, or digital attendance systems. Attendance records are regularly monitored by the academic administration to ensure compliance with the policy.

 

Students are also expected to actively participate in classes, which includes engaging in discussions, group activities, and other learning exercises.

 

Examination policy: Examinations are conducted on the institution’s premises in accordance with the regulations set by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s circular regarding exam organization.

 

At each exam session, students must respect the following:

  • Arrive 15 minutes before the exam.
  • In case of lateness, students must obtain permission to enter the examination room.
  • Present their student ID card and, if necessary, their national ID card.
  • Sign the attendance sheet at the beginning and end of each exam.
  • Avoid using programmable calculators, mobile phones, or any other smart devices (such as smartwatches, Bluetooth headsets, etc.), which must be turned off and handed to the proctor before the exam begins.
  • Occupy the assigned numbered seat. Any unauthorized seat changes are the student’s responsibility.
  • Only use documents provided by the proctors, unless specified otherwise in the exam instructions.
  • Write their name, surname, seat number, and any other required information on the exam paper.

Graduation: This policy ensures that students meet all academic and administrative criteria necessary for graduation. Students must complete a specified number of credits as required by their program. Grading: All subjects taught fall under two evaluation systems: the Mixed System and the Continuous Assessment System.

 

The grading division is as follows:

 

For the Mixed System:

70%: Final exam

20%: mid-term assignments

10%: Continuous assessment

 

For the Continuous Assessment System:

40%: Assignment #1

40%: Assignment #2

20%: Continuous assessment
